Have you ever heard anything about ResearchGate? Research Gate was founded 2008 in Hannover / Germany by Dr. Ijad Madisch and Dr. Sören Hofmayer (find out more on gruenderszene.de) . Their idea: connecting social media and science. Their result can be checked out under www.researchgate.net. What can people do on ResearchGate? You can have a profile (e.g. you can find me, Prof. Andreas Will, Dennis Brüntje, Daniel Schultheiss, Abelardo Medel), you can start to follow other researches, you can upload your publications and – now we come to the interesting point for this blog – you can ask questions and get answers from the community.

About 10 days ago, I posed a question on ResearchGate with the aim to reach the interested people on that issue in the crowd of 7 million + members from 193 countries. My question was quite simple: „Is anyone interested in a think tank on entrepreneurial journalism? – With the support of researchgate I found some researchers, that were interested in founding a think tank on the topic of entrepreneurial journalism. We have observed, that the national communities of researchers dealing with this topic are too small. So we thought that a virtual connection might be of interest for some people here? And if we find a few people, we can think about actions. If you are interested, please send me a message on researchgate.“ I posed this question according to the topics „communication science“, „journalism“, „communication research“, „entrepreneurship“ and „entrepreneurial journalism“.

EntrepreneurialJournalismThinkTankAnd surprisingly, I got already 13 answers. And more surprisingly, the answers were coming from all over the world. This afternoon I tried to visualize, where the scientists are coming from, as you might see here. Well, of course, the total amount of 13 is not as huge as it might be. But it shows, that there might be a global interest on that topic. And it encourages me to go further steps. So this story just started and has to be continued.
